Travelling around the world, jetting across different time zones can be really hard on your metabolism To get you back on track, we have selected some cool places, where you can ask for a brekkie from Monday to Sunday, no matter if you fancy doing this instead of the 4 p.m. tea.

PEST SIDE

This little place is perfect for a quick coffee fix before work or a convenient brunch later in the afternoon. A wide variety of breakfast dishes make up the menu, proposing everything from Hungarian specialties to French pastries and brunch classics. Try the Frankfurter sausage breakfast menu and the breakfast burger. Posh version such as the Benedict, Royal and Florentin egg-variations would make the pickiest guest sing with joy.

Hilda

Cooking with organic ingredients, offering delicious gluten and lactose free, also vegetarian dishes. Even the classic breakfast is served until midday, but the speciality dishes are available between 09:00 am – 11:00 pm such as avocado cream and poached eggs served on artisan bread, fried beetroots with toasted goat’s cheese, walnut honey dressing on bread or their bread pudding with yoghurt foam.

Must-try: Sandwich with melted cheese, caramelised onion and roast beef

Manga Cowboy

Relaxed wood-toned diner with a cowboy twist. Imagine the American-style breakfast: bagels, wraps, pancake with maple syrup and shakes and burgers, chicken wings & steaks, plus Japanese noodles & katsu curry.

Must-try: The Breakfast Bagel Burger with a 5 dollar milkshake – a real cure for a hangover!
Extras: If you like it hot, ask for their house-speciality hot sauce. Be aware, it is hotter, than you’d expect! Daily lunch menu on weekdays between 11:30 am – 3:00 pm

Keksz

When you are in town you definitely must stop for breakfast here. The portions are huge the price is right and the servers could not be more attentive and friendly.

Must-try: their English breakfast

Kino Café

Fresh salads, eggs, and sandwiches are fresh and prepared on site, a must try is their range of delicious cakes. For a really filling breakfast, get the homemade sausages and the scrambled eggs with onion.

BUDA SIDE

Flat White

Their basic concept is nature, therefore their interieur covered with grass and wood based materials, as not only the furniture but also the menu is made of wood. They also try to follow this concept in the ingredients of food, they offer homemade bread for breakfast, the juices are freshly pressed, most of the cakes are baked locally, and even the plant-based milk supplements are homemade too. Their coffee is superb, the permanent black blend is 80% brazil natural and 20% el salvador fully washed, the white blend is always made from the freshest green beans available to roast. Breakfast is available til 03:00 pm, but the burgers and salads will fill your cravings too.

Must-try: The American pancakes with apple sauce and vanilla ice-cream. Ask for some crispy bacon to be added.
Extras: In this atmosphere we would love to stay all day, daily menu on weekdays is also available with a vegetarian option.

+ 1 extra suggestion: the Cserpes Tejivó branch 

The milk bar (“tejivó” in Hungarian) is no new invention. Its history in Budapest dates back to the early 20th century. Such shops used to sell beverages made with milk, soft drinks and pastry. Some Hungarians still recall the exceptional atmosphere of these establishments, and the splendid feeling of sipping a steaming cup of coffee while eating a delicious croissant.
The menu is simple: cottage cheese pockets, cocoa rolls, croissants, scone, jam pocket, pastries mostly for breakfast or tea, complemented by sandwiches, salads and desserts. Regarding drinks, they offer milk, cocoa milk, latte, lemonade and tea.

Must-try: Spicy cottage cheese and cucumber sandwich and Cserpes Trudi (chocolate with cottage cheese filling)
Extras: The pastry sold at the Tejivó is made by them in Kapuvár. The company wanted to present how a good cocoa roll or any other pastry can be made without additives. The roll does not require flavour enhancement or flour treatment agents – as often seen utilized by others on the market – but only the dough, some sugar and cocoa.
