The Festival of Folk Arts, the largest international folk arts festival in the country, will take place between 17 and 20 August in the Buda Castle. Like every year, the focus will be on a folk craft: this time, it will be on no other than weaving and spinning. The diversity and variety of forms of folk weaving and spinning will be presented at weaving and spinning workshops at the Festival of Folk Arts, where visitors can also try the respective steps in their workflows. To honour the Year of Families, even more emphasis has been placed on family programs this year, and visitors can experience several specialties. At the spectacular event, visitors can view the creative artwork of the most accomplished traditional folk artists in open workshops, and those interested can also become familiar with and try traditional folk craftsmanship at trade demonstrations. The Festival of Folk Arts is a uniquely colourful international festival, which received the title of “Qualified European Festival” in 2017, and is therefore now listed as one of the continent’s best festivals. What’s more, entry is free for Budapest Card holders.* *Budapest Card entitles you to a one-time free entry: after the Budapest Card is shown, a wristband is given to the guest, which can be used as a daily ticket for the day's event.
