Parking arrangements at BUD Airport terminals will change from October as construction of the new multi-storey car park gets underway in the framework of the airport development project. The new facility, providing 2500 parking spaces for cars arriving at the airport, is scheduled to be opened in the second quarter of 2020.

The new parking facility to be built on the Terminal Parking site will be directly accessible from both terminal buildings. Construction is scheduled to start in the second half of October. However, parking arrangements will change as of 1 October, primarily affecting passenger cars and bus services. During the construction, short-stay customers in Terminal Parking will be directed to the site of the current Holiday Plus Parking, which will operate under the name Terminal Parking from 1 October. Budapest Airport customer services for parking will also relocate there. Customers looking for long-term parking can continue to use the recently extended Holiday Parking located nearer Terminal 2B. Coaches will be able to park at the Bus Parking created near the taxi rank, while passengers can continue to get on and off at Premium Parking, where traffic arrangements remain unchanged.

Rental car returns and pick-ups will operate from the parking area behind the hotel. At the same time, Central Parking will stop serving passengers, while parking for the airport hotel will remain the same. Disabled parking facilities will be available at the new site of Terminal Parking. From 1 October, the current site of Terminal Parking will be cordoned off and entry authorised for construction vehicles only. Vehicles that had been parked here will have until 15 October to leave the site.

Budapest Airport – New Flight Destinations

From next spring, a new air link will connect Budapest with France, as Transavia France has announced the opening of a seasonal route between Budapest and Nantes as of 7 April 2019. The twice-weekly flight is scheduled to land at Nantes Atlantique airport after a 2 hour, 50 minute journey on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Tickets can be booked from 17 September. After Paris, Bordeaux, Nice, Lyon and Marseille, the centre of the Loire region, Nantes, will be the sixth city in France to be directly accessible from Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport.

This autumn, the Hungarian Government signed an agreement with China Eastern Airlines, China’s second largest carrier in terms of passenger numbers, to open a direct Shanghai-Budapest flight. The new route aims to boost the number of tourists arriving to Hungary from East China, and service is expected to begin as of next summer.

From 31 March 2019, i.e. the beginning of the 2019 summer timetable, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) will operate two flights daily (14 per week) between Kiev-Borispol and Budapest. Lastly, Ryanair will open a flight from Cork, the third largest city in Ireland: next summer’s timetable includes Boeing 737-800 aircrafts operating twice a week between the two cities, on Thursdays and Sundays.
