The Budapest Photo Festival, held for the third time this Spring, is a series of exhibitions that represents the contemporary and classical values of photography and visual arts. The aim of the organisers – the Municipality of Budapest among them – is to make the capital of Hungary the “City of Photography”. The organisers of the Budapest Photo Festival wish to present the Hungarian and International contemporary photographic scene, in cooperation with local art galleries, museums and various cultural institutes based in Budapest. The festival consists of two highlighted exhibitions: the International Photo Show and the Hungarian Contemporary Overview. If you are into photography, you can participate in lectures, workshops, a photo marathon, educational events in museums and a photobook show. All the programs will take place in the Project Gallery of the Budapest Festival Centre. The festival also offers public programmes that involve the significant organisations of the Hungarian photographic scene, including the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts, the Hungarian Press Agency (MTI), Fortepan and the National Association of Hungarian Journalists. The highlight of the festival is the “Small Stories” exhibition of the American film director and visual artist David Lynch, which can be seen at the Arts Hall (Műcsarnok) next to Heroes’ square from 1st March to 2nd June. Műcsarnok – Location: 1146 Budapest, Dózsa György út 37. Kunsthalle 1146 Budapest Dózsa György út 37.
