Spend Children’s Day with a lot of fun in Budapest

The history of Children’s Day goes back to the 19th century US, however it was first officially declared in 1931 by Turkish President, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Since then many countries adopted the idea to celebrate and promote the right and freedoms of childhood. In Hungary, we celebrate it on the last Sunday of May so this year it will be on May 26th.

If you are a parent, grandparent, uncle or aunt you can spend the day with your little ones and participate in many unforgettable and extraordinary activities. Below we give you some tips on special events, where you enjoy the day.

The International Children’s Safety Service (NGYSZ) and the local government organize their Children Day’s celebration at the City Park (Városliget) this year. They offer several free cultural and educational programs such as Children’s Day football cup, the Highway Code (KRESZ) quizzes, horse therapy demonstration and concerts. There will be programs awaiting families and children on both Saturday and Sunday.
