Another famous gastronomy that crossed borders is the Peruvian one. Peru was distinguished by the World Travel Awards as the World’s Leading Culinary Destination since 2012. At the moment there is only one Peruvian restaurant in Budapest called Inka Grill Bistro, which is located near Kalvin square in Raday Street. Here, the king of the dishes is the Ceviche, a typical dish is made of raw fish sprinkled with lemon, salt, chili pepper, onion and garnished with sweet potato, cancha (corn) and lettuce. You can find other famous Peruvian dishes made of fish, meat and rice such as Chupe de camarones, a hearty shrimp soup,  Arroz con mariscos, rice with seafood and Anticuchos, grilled beef heart skewers. Remember to drink the Pisco sour, the national drink of the Peruvians made of fermented grape schnapps and lime juice.

Everyone has heard about the famous Argentinian steak as it earned a reputation for being one of the world’s best. But what makes Argentinian beef tastes so good? Mostly the fact that in Argentina cows live outside basking under the sun and eating grass instead of being squeezed into feedlots eating corn what is the common practice in the US and Europe. This makes their meat more tender, flavourful and nutritious. If you fancy a tasty and tender steak Pampas Argentin Steak House is the place to go. You can try steaks from the Angus cattle such as T-bone, Rump and sirloin or you can try specialties from the Japanese Wagyu and Kobe cattles known for their extra tenderness and richness in flavour. The restaurant offers a high variety of excellent wines from all around the world, which you can enjoy with your steak.

If you are visiting the Parliament building and fancy some nice Mexican food, Iguana Bar & Grill offers a wide selection of quesadillas, chili con carnes, tacos and enchiladas. This cosy Mexican – American restaurant, located a few steps from the Parliament and the beautiful Freedom Square, is one of the best of its kind in town, serving guests since 1997. Besides authentic Mexican dishes you can find juicy burgers and sandwiches here, which you can wash down with Mexican beer and cocktails such as the La Paloma made of 100 % agave tequila, fresh pink grapefruit juice, lime and soda water.

Since 2012 La Bodeguita del Medio received thousands of tourists thanks to its fine steaks and hacienda style design. This well-known Cuban restaurant provides a special atmosphere and a wide variety of food such as the national Cuban dish the Ropa Vieja, beef chunks cooked with tomatoes and onions. Besides Cuba they have exclusive dishes and drinks from Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. On weekends a Cuban dance show and authentic musicians entertain the guests.

A part of Latin America is here in Budapest and its food may bring people together. Share a nice dinner or lunch with your friends and family while you learn about the fusion of Central and South American gastronomy and let yourself fall in love with the exotic tastes.
