Budapest Charity Pumpkin Festival

Bring your own decorated pumpkin to the Budapest Charity Pumpkin Festival!

Halloween or All Saints’ Eve is an annual celebration taking place in many countries. Its origin is said to be coming from an ancient Celtic festival, Samhain, where people used to light bonfires and wear costumes to scare away ghosts. Throughout the centuries it evolved into a day of fun activities such as trick-or-treating, carving pumpkin lanterns, donning costumes and eating sweets.

Besides having fun we can do something good for example donate to kids and families in need. On this note the Budapest Charity Pumpkin Festival was established in 2009 and since then every year they organise their event. This year it will be held on Saturday, 26th October at the Heroes Square.

The event is free of charge and it will last for 2 hours from 7pm until 9pm. Attendants have to bring their own homemade Halloween pumpkins and 1 to 3 cans of non-perishable food. The aim of this event is to collect non-perishable food for the non-profit organization Gyermekétkeztetési Alapítvány (Child Nutrition Foundation) who will deliver the donations for children in need and families with low economic resources.

The event is open for everyone, especially for families and kids, who can enjoy the various art decorations of Halloween pumpkins at the square. Please note that you are allowed to place your pumpkin anywhere at Heroes Square but you need to take it with you when the event is over.
