Santa’s Trolleybus collects presents also in 2019

BKK Centre for Budapest Transport is operating its uniquely illuminated Mikulástroli also in 2019, which collects presents in Budapest for people in need between 5 and 19 December 2019.

The decorated, environmental-friendly and barrier-free, uniquely illuminated Solaris–Škoda trolleybus, having also unique interior decoration, is operating on the routes of trolleybuses 70, 72, 75, 80A and 83 until 19 December 2019. Passengers have the chance to travel on board with Santa Claus and to deliver the presents in shoeboxes, which then BKK will forward to the Hungarian Baptist Aid, organising its traditional holiday fundraising for the 16th time. These shoebox-size presents will reach even the poorest and farthest corner of Hungary to make children happy.

The Mikulástroli’s spectacular illumination is provided by a light garland consisting of about ten thousand energy-efficient LEDs, while the unique interior design caters for the merry atmosphere. By taking advantage of its battery capacity, the trolleybus runs on an extended route to the city centre each day in an off-wire mode: on the route of trolleybus 72, Mikulástroli is running to Deák Ferenc tér, instead of Arany János utca while on the route of trolleybus 80A, its route is extended to Blaha Lujza tér, instead of Keleti pályaudvar. Regular fares apply. Please find more information on the schedules of the line at https://bkk.hu/mikulastroli/ and check departure times at https://bkk.hu/en/timetables/ by clicking on the trolleybus icon.

Thanks to E.ON Hungária Plc., during the programme even an angel awaits passengers on each line, helping seniors and families with boarding and disembarking, with carrying packages and if needed with taking photos with Santa Claus. Besides, E.ON gives small presents to children travelling on board.

After 19 December, Mikulástroli will be operating as the Christmas trolleybus until 5 January 2020. The vehicle will be available all day long on the dedicated routes, not only in the evenings, however presents will no longer be collected.

BKK is committed to environmental-friendly transport solutions, therefore since the autumn of 2019, a further 21 new, environmental-friendly, air-conditioned and low-floor Solaris–Škoda trolleybuses have been put into service, on one of which Santa has taken up his residence.
