Here are our suggestions of programs to do once Christmas is over but New Year still seems far away. Enjoy some culture Days between Christmas and New Year can be a good opportunity to visit museums and galleries and enjoy some exhibits. The Museum of Fine Arts Budapest hosts Rubens, Van Dyck and the Splendour of Flemish Painting exhibition, while you can follow the main events of Hungarian history through artefacts in the Hungarian National Museum. If you prefer contemporary art you may check out the Euphoria exhibition showcasing the late 80’s and system change in Hungary in the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Centre. This place also hosts the famous photos of Robert Capa, photojournalist of the 20’s century battlefields. Get your skates on There is nothing much more festive than ice skating on the ice rink of the City Park. It is one of Europe’s largest outdoor ice rink with a spectacular view to the Vajdahunyad Castle that is awaiting you and your family and friends this winter. You can purchase your ticket online to avoid the queue, which costs 1500 Forints per person and in case you don’t have the equipment you can rent it for an additional 2500 Forints. Pamper yourself in a thermal spa Temperatures may drop below zero and after Christmas winter may seem miserable. But in Budapest it is easy to stay warm as it is one of the spa capitals of the world. You can select from various bath houses, such as the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, where you can dip into a hot pool outside and enjoy the frosty air perhaps snowfall from the warm pool. If you are on the Buda side, you may visit Gellért Spa and enjoy its saunas and pools all in Art Nouveau setting.
