From the best meat restaurant to the mystical hotel Over 70,000 international travellers voted for Budapest as the most attractive European destination – with good reason. There is so much to see and to do that even Budapest’s Finest can only present the very best offers. The summer edition will head to Babel Budapest, the city’s newest Michelin-starred restaurant, with the help of István Veres, a young chef. The owner of Babel, Hubert Hlatky-Schlichter met our colleague at Hotel Clark Budapest to talk about his other two ventures: the sky bar on the roof and Beefbar on the ground floor. “I wanted to make the best meat restaurant in the city”, he says. The skyline of Budapest is made unforgettable by the bridges over the Danube. Budapest’s Finest lists these historic sights. We also present the plans for the newest bridge, which will connect Újbuda and Csepel. Csepel is one of the most important locations in the history of Hungarian industry. This is discussed in the magazine while outlining the huge developments that Csepel faces as the main location of the “Budapest Southern Gate” project. Mystery Hotel Budapest opened just a few weeks before the magazine is published. The building, built around the Millennium and now beautifully restored, offers urban and intellectual mysteries honouring its own name. For those who want to spend their holidays active, a visit the Árpád Spring Bath in Csillaghegy is recommended. The pools used to be known for their cold water, but now several wellness parts have been added, so you don’t have to be afraid of catching a cold. Readers are encouraged to do sports by Ágnes Kovács, Olympic, World and European Champion swimmer, who’s the tourism ambassador of Budapest in 2019. The summer offers innumerable cultural events. Epic theatre and dance performances are presented at the Margaret Island Open-Air Stage. At the Budapest Summer Festival, international stars and groups perform including Vittorio Grigolo, Nicola Benedetti and Hervé Koubi’s frenetic dance company. The stars of opera will shine at the Müpa festival, The Budapest Wagner Days. Vilmos Oláh, Emmy-winning violin player and concertmaster of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (which has contributed to the event for years), will perform the main motives for the opera on a Stradivarius.
