The month of June was the LGBTQ pride month, when events and parades are held to commemorate and recognize the rights of LGBTQ people around the world. It has been celebrated in Hungary since 1997. Since then every summer the LGBTQ community organises the Budapest Pride Festival to celebrate diversity and to promote equality and the acceptance of the LGBTQ rights in society. The Festival offers several programs such as open air concerts, movies, workshops and a stunning and extravagant parade. The main and closing event of the month long Festival is the Pride March, which will be held on Saturday, July 6 from 3 pm. The gathering will start in the heart of Budapest at District V. Kossuth Square, where you can take part in a Kiss-flash mob and get into party mood with great music and dance. The march will start at 4pm and it follow the route: Kossuth Lajos Square – Falk Miksa Street – Markó Street – Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Road – József Attila Street – Széchenyi István Square – Apáczai Csere János Street until it arrives to March 15 Square. If you would like to attend the parade don’t forget to bring sun cream and plenty of water with you because not only the mood but the weather will be hot too. You can bring your rainbow flag and other accessories too. After the parade you can continue partying at the Budapest Pride Rainbow Party that will take place at Budapest Park located in the District IX. The event will start at 10pm and you can choose among three stages with three different genres of music such as techno/electro, pop and retro.
