The big day has come and wherever you are travelling to and from and what language do you speak: in these days it doesn't even matter as from now on the main language is football! The 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament brings together 32 competing nations, including some of the greatest players in the world, and produces many intriguing storylines. Here are our tips where to watch the FIFA World Cup from the 14th June - 15th July in Budapest. The 2014 final was watched live by over one billion (!) people. Watch the Official Song of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia to put you in the mood, we are especially proud as quite a few filming locations were actually in Budapest with Will Smith and Ronaldinho! If you don't mind mingling with hundreds of people, at Szabadsag Square (= Liberty Square), you will find two large screens at this amazing place located midway between the Hungarian Parliament and St. Stephen’s Basilica. It will be open every day between 1pm and 10pm. There is a fan zone organised by City Center Foci Mozi, set to host up to 300,000 visitors over the course of the month with games, special guests, family and children programs, table football, foot tennis, teqball and video games. In front of KIOSK in the city center, with an amazing view of the Danube and the Buda Hills, Terasz offers barbecued snacks and great atmosphere, where you can chill on the grass barefoot, watch the football on a big screen. Watch out as they will not screen all of the matches, so it is worth checking their schedule on their Facebook page here. John Bull Sports Pub is a traditional English pub and á la carte restaurant, with a wonderful goulash soup and where you can watch live sport events. Booking is recommended as they are in the downtown area, plus if you wish to have a seat. Another popular indoor choice for watching sports events is Champs - they have 1900 sports channel from all over the world! Without any doubt, this pub is the ultimate go-to location for any kind of a sport broadcast. Budapest Park is also awaiting football fans of the capital with broadcasts of all the matches of the World Cup in June and July live in its venue, Nagyszünet, on the left side of the Park. On the night of the Final, the whole Budapest Park will be free and open to fans to celebrate the winning team together. At the heart of the city, next to Deák Square, Akvárium is another popular choice - expect it to be very crowdy - it has three giant LED screens showing each game. Imagine a real stadium experience, as you can sit on its staircase and there is a great choice of streetfood such as fish and chips, steak sandwiches or hamburgers. Between 14-28 June, visit to the Rooftop Terrace of Westend City Center, where you can enjoy the games on a 28 square meter screen and take part in the 11th Czech Beer festival with great czech beers and accompanying finger foods.
