Just one more cup – new wave cafés in Budapest

The capital is famous for its bustling café scene, as well as the elegant milieu and special atmosphere of classic cafés. However, a few years ago the appearance of specialty coffees brought about a change in Budapest, too, and – in line with international trends – new wave cafés keep opening here, as well. Quality, professional coffee-making and an experimental spirit together offer such exciting flavours to coffee-lovers here that it would be a shame to miss out on them.

One of the newest representatives of new wave cafés is The Black Lab. Although it’s not in the area most frequented by tourists, residents living nearby have already chosen it as one of their hangouts. The owner, who’s also the highly skilled barista at The Black Lab, paid particular attention to every customer having a good time when he designed the place. And this is ensured not only by the café’s friendly furnishings, but also quality Has Bean coffee, as well as delicious cookies and bonbons. We also definitely recommend the place to those who are lactose and gluten intolerant, since the owner hasn’t forgotten about them, either.

Address: 1074 Budapest, Csengery St. 21.

Madal Café appeared in the capital as one of the first representatives of the new wave coffee revolution, and today it awaits coffee lovers at three locations. Artisanal coffee, unique flavours, excellent quality: they’re all found at Madal cafés. And if you’ve had a cup of coffee already, but would like to continue relaxing in an island of calm, it’s worth tasting the hot chocolate, too.

Espresso Embassy in the downtown area is the favourite of coffee lovers and foreign tourists. You can taste coffee of the best possible quality here, too, and they’re replaced from time to time, so you’re always in for an exciting experience if you pop in. And, of course, they haven’t forgotten about food either, so you can even have breakfast at Espresso Embassy. The reviews you can read on social media sites are also very convincing; almost all of the customers are fascinated by the baristas’ kindness and professionalism.

Address: 1051 Budapest, Arany János St. 15.

The award-winning baristas of Tamp&Pull Espresso Bar have been so successful with their café in Budapest that there’s already a second store that awaits guests who experiment with specialty coffees. Here, too, quality is paramount, and so is that everyone should leave satisfied after they’ve had a delicious coffee, of course. In addition to the coffee, which they roast themselves, you can also try their delicious sandwiches.
