description

The Hungarian National Museum’s permanent collection contains several million pieces – among them world famous archeological objects and priceless treasures of Hungarian history and culture. Our archeological exhibition – Between East and West – presents the history of the peoples of Hungary from earliest times up to the Hungarian Conquest period.

In the first half of our historical exhibition visitors can follow the main events of Hungarian history in the medieval period, by way of outstanding artefacts from the time. In the second part we present the leading personalities and key events in Hungary’s history during the modern era and subsequently.

Our newest permanent exhibition is The Seuso treasure. Splendour of Pannonia. We are proud to present the Hungarian National Museum’s outstanding artefacts of the collection of the Roman period together with the Seuso treasure which is a treasure trove from the late period of the Roman Empire.
